Our Commitment

Personal Courage wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG is the widely used international standard for making web content accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we know we may not get everything right.

How This Website Is Built

Some of the ways we've designed this site with accessibility in mind:

  • A clear structure with headings, landmarks and a “Skip to main content” link, so screen reader and keyboard users can move around quickly.
  • The site is built to work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline showing where you are. Menus open with a click, a tap or the Enter key, and close with Escape; nothing depends on hovering with a mouse.
  • Text and controls are designed to meet WCAG color contrast levels, and pages are built to work when you zoom in or enlarge text.
  • Layouts adapt to small screens, and buttons and links are sized to be easy to tap. Phone numbers are links, so you can call with one tap on a phone.
  • A dark mode for people who are sensitive to light, which is common after a brain injury. The site follows your device’s light or dark setting automatically, and the light/dark switch in the header (in the menu on phones) lets you choose. Your choice is remembered on your device only.
  • Animation is minimal and is turned off if your device is set to reduce motion. There are no carousels or auto-playing videos.
  • Team headshots have text descriptions, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers. Every form field has a label, and errors are listed at the top of the form, linked to the field and announced to screen readers.

Known Limitations

The “Get directions” links open Google Maps, a service we don't control, which has its own accessibility features and limits. If you'd rather get directions another way, call us.

When a browser's default text size is set well above standard, some parts of the page header, footer and mobile action bar may not fit the screen. We are correcting this.

If you find a barrier that isn't listed here, please tell us.

Report a Barrier

If any part of this website is hard to use, we want to know. It helps to tell us:

  • the page address (URL) or the name of the page
  • what you were trying to do and what happened
  • the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using, if you know

Please don't include health details in your message. We'll help you get what you need another way, and your feedback helps us improve the site.
